Me in 10 min?

I tend to treat myself like a system — running it while debugging along the way. Highly introverted, and once something catches my interest, I'll chase it down for no reason beyond wanting to understand it. Online I go by Syncrex, a name I made up in middle school for no particular reason except that it sounded right — it just stuck. On paper, I'm a clinical medicine student at Peking University Health Science Center, currently fascinated by AI, though both fields mostly leave me a little lost these days. One step at a time.

I like building little theories in my head to explain whatever's in front of me — one of the few things that reliably gets me to focus. On the flip side, I'm not great at small talk or comforting people: I spend far more time replaying my own words after the fact than dwelling on anyone else's. My train of thought jumps around a lot too — I'll randomly resurface some trivial detail from ten years ago just to "fact-check" it with whoever was there. For what it's worth, my most recent 16personalities result was INTJ-T, though I've gotten INFJ and INFP before — accuracy aside, it still sounds a lot like me.

I spend most of the year at No. 38 Xueyuan Road, Haidian, Beijing. Back in high school I heavily romanticized this city — reality turned out to be fast-paced, high-pressure, and full of competition and anxiety, nowhere near as effortless as I'd imagined. But there have been enough unexpected people along the way — friends, professors, all sorts of people just passing through my life — who've genuinely stretched my small world a size bigger, and broken a few assumptions I didn't know I was carrying (finals week at med school excluded).

I love playing football, and occasionally play badminton, swim, or go hiking. I've been playing since I was 7, was on my elementary school team before academics took over, but never really stopped. My stamina and skills have both dropped a fair amount over the years, but I still love the feeling of running around with friends. I've been a die-hard Bayern Munich fan since 2014 — I like how they play as much as the club's culture. My favorite player is Kevin De Bruyne, and since I admire Pep Guardiola, I follow Manchester City too; I also have a soft spot for Barça because of Lewandowski and Griezmann. During the World Cup I usually root for England, partly for the football culture and partly because I just enjoy the drama of their squad. Bucket list item: pilgrimages to the Allianz Arena and the Etihad Stadium. If I'm honest, results matter less to me than how a team or player actually plays — which, now that I think about it, is basically the same thing driving how I listen to music and play games.

I'm also a huge music lover, and recently picked up fingerstyle guitar — my taste is all over the place. For J-Pop, I love Yorushika, Atarayo, and Aimer. For Mandopop, I mostly listen to the 00s–10s golden era — Jay Chou, JJ Lin, Leehom Wang, Stefanie Sun, Mayday — plus R&B from David Tao and Khalil Fong; hard to pin down a single style I prefer. I listen to less Cantopop and newer artists, though I still love Eason Chan and AGA. Western music was a bigger part of high school and has faded somewhat since, but I still love The Chainsmokers and early Coldplay — the rest is scattered singles, no clear pattern there either. One niche artist I really love is Mree, whose voice is genuinely haunting. In fingerstyle, I like a lot of arrangers, especially Sungha Jung, Masaaki Kishibe, and Yuki Matsui. I wouldn't call myself a fan of any of these people specifically — I just appreciate the music and the arrangements.

Gaming has been a big part of my life too. I've had my own PC since I was four — mostly simple games back then, but that's when the interest in computers and games really took hold. I've dabbled in everything from Feeding Frenzy and Plants vs. Zombies to single-player games like Minecraft and GTA, and online games like CF. Minecraft has stuck around the longest — I started in 2011 and have been through several of its updates, mostly for the pure joy of building things, though I play much less now. The game with the highest tracked hours is CS — nearly 2,000 hours across three years of high school after picking it up in 2020. I don't play much anymore, but the attachment and the memories are still strong. These days I mostly stick to single-player games, with the occasional round of Honor of Kings, CS, or Valorant if friends are on. In the CS scene, I'm a Team Vitality fan — since the s1mple-vs-ZywOo era in 2022 — and I've been won over by ZywOo's game sense and humility. For Valorant, I follow EDG, having gotten into the game after watching KangKang's performance at the Tokyo Masters. Calling myself a "fan" mostly just means I follow certain teams closely — the longer you watch, the harder it is not to warm up to the players themselves. If anything, I care more about a genuinely good match than who wins it, and once you learn a player's backstory, it's hard not to like almost all of them. At this point I'm basically a retired old man in gaming terms — I play mostly to unwind and enjoy myself, and I've got a real soft spot for esports veterans, fading dynasties, and teams and players who've stuck around for the long haul.

Maybe I'll add more later, but this is everything that comes to mind right now — I'll keep adding as I go. This is me.
